STRUCTURE

  • Vidya Sudha is a social initiative of Sri Ramachandra Educational and Health Trust.
  • Registered as an institution under section 52(2) of Rights of Persons with Disabilities
    Act, 2016 (Formerly, it was registered under section 51 of Persons with Disabilities
    Act, 1995)
  • A recognized early intervention centre, given recognition from Office of the State
    Directorate for the welfare of Differently Abled, Government of Tamil Nadu
  • A uniquely designed 2000 sq.ft building
  • Having Well-equipped classrooms and multidisciplinary team
  • Focusing on high quality training with individual attention

OBJECTIVES

  • Vidya Sudha is committed to achieving the following objectives with the focus of helping
    children with disabilities become independent, self-reliant and confident individuals:
  • To meet the diverse learning needs, ensuring that each child receives appropriate and
    comprehensive rehabilitation services
  • To prevent the risk of disability at an early age and promote the overall well-being of
    the children through early intervention and training.
  • To transform challenging behaviours into positive behaviours by creating a conducive
    environment for all children.
  • To create an environment fostered by familial, community, and institutional support
    systems that enhance education, offer balanced nutrition, and improve the quality of
    life for children.
  • To integrate the children into mainstream society, preparing them for greater
    independence and success.
  • To empower parents of children with disabilities and facilitate access to government
    programmes and resources.
  • To provide tailored and sponsored training, capacity-building programmes, seminars,
    workshops and conferences for various stakeholders.
  • To create awareness among all stakeholders and involve them in advocacy and
    targeted interventions for the well-being of children with disabilities

As part of Sri Ramachandra Educational and Health Trust’s social initiative, “Vidya Sudha, Sri Ramachandra Learning Centre for Children with Special Needs was inaugurated on the 15th December, 2004. This was a much needed resource for the community as there were not many centres for special children. Over the years more and more children have been accessing its services and the centres now caters to around 100 children.

Conceived with the aim of helping parents of children with special needs, Vidya Sudha has touched the lives of many children directly and indirectly. It is working relentlessly for the betterment of these children. Vidya Sudha is an Early Intervention Programme.

Vidya Sudha is registered as an Early Intervention Institution for the Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities under section 52 (2) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (Previously registered U/s 52 of the Persons with Disabilities Act,1995) by the Office of the State Commissioner for the Welfare Differently Abled, Government of Tamil Nadu. It is a uniquely designed Early Intervention Centre, catering to children below the age of 8 years, with a wide range of difficulties like Developmental Delays, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, ADD,ADHD, Multiple Disabilities, Down syndrome Learning Disabilities and other Cognitive Difficulties. The focus is on holistic development through stimulation and training which will enable a child to achieve greater independence and be included in the community.

Family Centred Intervention Programme

Since it is a uniquely designed daycare center, where parents are an integral part of the plan and care process. This Family-Centred Intervention Programme requires that one of the parents (usually the mother) participate in all the sessions along with the child. Parents can continue to mentor their child at home, with the learning continuing beyond the campus.

Individualized Educational Plan (IEP)

Vidya Sudha believes that each child has a different aptitude, potential and need. Therefore, we create an Individualized Educational Programme (IEP) for each child. Our low student teacher ratio (1: 8) fosters a unique environment where each child can blossom and reach his/her full potential.

Our Multidisciplinary Team

A multidisciplinary team including Special Educators, Occupational therapists, Speech therapist, Physiotherapists, Clinical psychologists, Nutritionists and adjunct medical team provides high quality integrated care.

Our Services

Early Intervention in Vidya Sudha is a holistic programme, where a team of experts with diverse backgrounds and specialties come together to provide special children a multi-dimensional programme that caters to the overall development of these special child. All children receive individual and group sessions in the following areas:

  • Special education – which includes designing learning environments and activities that promote the child’s development
  • Vision and Hearing assessment and therapy
  • Feeding and Swallowing training
  • Occupational therapy– services that relate to self help skills, adaptive behavior and play and sensory, motor and postural development
  • Behavioural therapy with psychological assessment and counseling
  • Oro-motor stimulation activities
  • Speech therapy – to enhance language and communication
  • Montessori method of training to help children become independent learners
  • Parental training for home management and frequent follow ups
  • Physiotherapy – to prevent or lessen movement’s difficulties and related functional problems
  • Diet counseling
  • Guidance and Counseling for parents, young adult with disabilities, siblings etc.,
